 Smart Foot Print Review 

Today at home I noticed that it was Wednesday and on every Wednesday a new cybersmart challenge comes out and this one was a check up to see if we had done all the challenges before this one. So one each slide there was a title of some challenges and if we had done the challenge we had to put the word completed on top of it and link our blog to the word completed. I did all of the challenges and completed them so I had to link them all up, After that I had to blog it.

Today at home I got some work done and one things I got done was my Wonderopolis story called " Why Can't Dogs Eat Chocolate ". The reason I choose this wonderopolis was because my uncle has a dog and I also wanted to know why can't dogs eat chocolate. After I read the article I did the quiz that was on the side.

Today at home I did a wonderopolis activity. Wonderopolis is a site where are you can see things some people wonder and they will tell you something and some questions along with about 2 quizzes. In the article there are words highlighted and if you hover your mouse over it it will show you the meaning. After you have read the article you can do the quizzes on the sides. The first activity is called "Wonder Words". The words that are highlighted in the article are in the quiz it will give you one of the words from the article and you have to find the meaning.

Maraia - Current Events Term 2 World Oceans Day

 World Oceans Day

Today in class we did our current event slides. For Current events we read a story and then we had to read the story and write down question from the story. Our Story was called world Oceans Day. The story was 2 pages it was page 28 and 29. We had to read it then find 3 question from the story from pages 28 and 29. Then we had to make a glossary, a glossary is a page of words that you don't know and it will tell you the meaning of the word. I had a few words that I didn't know so those words were on my glossary. After we finished that we had make a google drawing with some key words and pictures then blog.

Today in class we started off with math. Before we started doing prototec we had to do a multiplication grid. In the multiplication grid there was a set of times tables from 1 to 9. At the bottom there was a box and it said time and we had 5 minutes to complete the after we finished the multiplication grid we had do prototec. My goal was to get a higher score than last time.

Today for my math starter called prototec and we had to compare our result from this week and last weeks result and see if we did the same strategy or If we didn't. I did the same strategy I just worked it out on the spot. Then we had to see if we improved I didn't really improve I got 68% and my highest is 90%.

Today in class we did a family tree if you don't know what a family tree is it's not your family in a tree it's like the generations in you family so it start with you then your mum and dad then your mum's mum then mum's dad's dad. we only did it to our grandparents on both sides. After we complete out activity, we then have to screencastify and blog our activity.

Today for my math starter called prototec and we had to compare our result from this week and last weeks result and see if we did the same strategy or If we didn't. I did the same strategy I just worked it out on the spot. Then we had to see if we improved I didn't really improve I got 73 and last tie I got 90.

Maraia - Spelling Puzzle Term 2 Week 3

 Spelling Puzzle Term 2 Week 3

Today in class we did some spelling for 15 minutes. We have words to learn and memorize how to spell them and activity to do with the words. I was gonna do the "Sign Language" activity, for that activity you get to choose 3 of your spelling words and do then take photos of yourself spelling them out in sign language, but I ended up doing the Puzzlemaker activity because we only have 15 minutes. 

When you do the "Puzzle Maker" activity you have to go on a site called Puzzle Maker. Then you have to click what type of puzzle you want to make I choose a word search puzzle. Then you just name your puzzle and put the words into your puzzle and click submit.

Today for Māori we are learning about Tūpou Māori - Māori pronouns. This was a bit hard because I do not know a lot about Māori or how to speak it. A new word I learnt was "Takeo". It means I am bored. 

Can you use these pronouns to speak Te Reo Māori.

Today at I decided to do Cybersmart Challenge #14. Cybersmart Challenge #14 was about helping John, John didn't yet  know how to make a Quality Blog Post, so I helped him make his blog a bit better. Since John didn't know how to make a quality post I told him how to make one. To make a quality blog you need a  Great Title you also need a brief explanation about what activity you are doing, you also need labels that are relevant to the topic. After helping out John he is now good at making Quality Blogs!

Today in TWP for math we did prototec. It is a site that gives you questions and you have to try and get the right answer, after you answer all of the  questions you then click mark and it will  check if you are right or wrong on your questions.

Maraia - Swimming Who, What, When, Where, Why

Swimming Who, What, When, Where, Why

During the last two weeks, St Pius X School’s classes took turns going to the YMCA Swim Magic Pools, to learn about water safety and how to swim.

At the start I felt cold and a bit disgusted because there was brown stuff on the ground and hair everywhere on the ground. The things I could already do in the water were Backstroke, float, freestyle/arm circles, streamline, dolphin kicks, breaststroke and enter safely. I hoped to get better at swimming

During our lessons we had to listen and keep our head above water when the instuctur was talking, we were learning how to be safe in water and in dangerous stiuations in water. The easy things were kicking and the hard things were breathing and staying underwater. The skills I enjoyed practicing were dolphin kicks and backstroke.

At the end I felt cold when we got out of the water because the water was nice and warm. My biggest challenge was doing backstroke. Compared to the start I am now confident in swimming. I will use these skills to stay safe in water.

Today in TWP we did a book review activity. We had to Write 3 parts in the book we liked and and a summary of the book with your favorite part.Then we had to write who we would recommend this book to and add a photo of what the cover of our book looks like.

 Today in TWP we had to write about out Native tree that we did last time, So I did a Kahikatea tree. We had to have interesting facts, its habitat, its threats and its food. We had to work in our groups that we did our tree with. 

The easiest part was the pictures.

The hardest part was adding the information.

 Cybersmart Challenge 13

Today at home after we came back from the Pools I remembered it is a Wednesday, and on a Wednesday a new Cybersmart Challenge comes out so I went to check the site I Cybersmart Challenge 13 was there and it was called "My Digital Footprint." For this activity we had to make a copy of the google drawing they had made then we had to read then instructions. The instructions said to go to our history (Ctrl + tab + H) and take a screenshot of the icons of the sites that we have been on. Then we had to use the foot prints and put them into a path and put the icons on top  of them leading up to the top.

Maraia - Spelling Puzzle No. 3

 Spelling Puzzle

Today after swimming we did some spelling. Today for spelling a activity called "Words Within Words." When we do this activity we have to use one of our spelling words like honour and then we have to write the our that we con spell with those letters like, our, hour, no and on. Then I did an other activity called "Puzzle Maker". When we do this activity we have to go online and go to a site called Puzzle Maker, First you choose what type of puzzle you want to make the use click on it and then you type the name of your puzzle and then you just have to write your words and click finish.
