Maraia - Okahu Bay

 Okahu Bay

Today at home I wrote a bit about Okahu Bay, basically a DLO. If you don't know what a DLO is, well it is a google drawing with some key words, pictures, and information about what you are write about. I did my DLO on Okahu Bay because a few weeks ago we went sailing at Okahu Bay, and learnt how to set  up a sailing boat and thing you need to do when sailing. One thing that we found out when we got there was that the school didn't pay for the sailing trip becasue, we were choosen by St. Johns Rotary Club, and they had paid for our trip.

Maraia - Ngā kare ā-roto me ngā āhau - Feelings and states

Ngā kare ā-roto me ngā āhau - Feelings and states.

WALT: express how we're feeling in te reo Māori
Today in TWP 4 we did some learning about Te Reo Maori Feelings and states.

For this activity we had to take a picture of ourselves and 5 other people and we had to say Kei te pehea koe and the had to respond with Kei tei (something) ahau.

After we put into  a google drawing we had to screencastify with their voices .  Doing the screencastify took over 10 tries because someone had forgotten their lines or they didn't know how to pronounce the word in maori but overall I think it turned out great-ish.

Check out my work and video!

The people who were in the video are Ana,Mele,Moala,Melenaite and Briana

Maraia - Te Arapū Māori, the Māori alphabet

Te Arapū Māori, the Māori alphabet

Today in TWP4 we did a extra for experts activity.
We learnt about the Māori alphabet (arapū) is made up of eight consonants, five vowels and two digraphs. Digraphs are two letters that combine to form one sound.
Oropūare and Orokati means Vowels and Consonants.
Something I found out is that when a letter has a hat or a macron you have to drag it.

Maraia - Oropūare and Orokati, Vowels and Consonants

Oropūare and Orokati, Vowels and Consonants

Today for Maori we refreshed our memories about the Maori alphabet by learning all of the letters again and by a song.

The Maori Alphabet ( Arapu ) is made up of eight consonants, five vowels and two digraphs. Digraphs are two letters that combine to form one sound.

I really liked doing this activity plus it was really easy to do because we already knew part of it. we had to know the difference between long vowels and short.

Hope you enjoyed - Ko te tumanako i pai koe
