Maraia - Volvo Sailing Have a go -DLO

Volvo Sailing Have a go -DLO

Today at home I did a small graffiti about sailings. This activity was very easy because I went sailing and I just had to write some keywords. I think it was 99.9% easy but 1.1% hard because I couldn't think of much words so I went to Sione's blog and used some.

Maraia - Our Sailing trip - Volvo Sailing Have A Go

Our Sailing trip - Volvo Sailing Have A Go

Last week on Thursday TWP 4 and Mr gaffneys Yr 5s went sailing. For sailing we had to come to school in mufti with our swimming clothes underneath. When we got there we had to sit by the boat on the chairs then after a few minutes we were aloud to play or eat I decided to go and play banana split.

After a little while the Yr 5s got into the boats the Yr 6s had to go second, so while we where waiting our Teacher Mrs Nees Kirua took us to the beach. It was a minute walk or less but while we were walking my friend Aston hit my head so I chased him and slapped his head and we kept on doing that to each other until we got to the beach. When we got closer to the beach I ran ahead and we for the water, but we couldn't go in because we were still in our clothes so I rolled my pants up  because our teacher said we can only go up to our knees.

After a little while we went back to the dock and played games. Then the Yr 5s came back to shore and got changed into their normal clothes.

Later we went to get into out life jackets and then we had to go into the water. After a little while we had a race but I didn't know what to do to control the sail. Then an hour later one of the instuctours came on a speed boat and threw out plastic play balls and we had to get as many as we could, whenever me and Melenaite (my partner) saw a ball we went to it and I leaned over the boat and got the ball. Later on there were no more balls so we counted our and we got 18 the after a few seconds someones boat fell over then if started to get cold so I jumped in to water so I could get warm and then I saw the balls that fell out of the boat that got tipped over and I swan towards it a got some so we then had 21 balls.

We then we back to shore but when we went back to shore the same boat tipped over so we left them and another instructor called Holly came and helped them.

Then we all got change and went back to school.

Maraia - Tahuna Tōrea Mind Flow

Tahuna Torea Mind Flow

WALT: allow our inner response to flow and be captured in words form.
To day in TWP we did an activity about Tahuna Torea.
Before we started the activity we sat on the mat for about one of two minutes and closed our eyes and  think of what we did at Tahuna Torea. We  then had to write out moments of Awe, Wondering and a moment that stood out to me and our favorite Learning moment.  We basically had a flashback of what we did. This activity was very easy  and I don't think that anything was hard

MATCH  COLUMN A WITH COLUMN B

For this activity we had to watch a video first and then read both of the boxes and match them up with each other. I wrote it down under the boxes. My first idea was to make lines but it didn't look nice so I wrote it down.

(I couldn't find the video)

Maraia - Little League

 Little League

On Tuesday the 11th of may David and his friend from the National rugby league and they played some games with us. The first games that we played this game that was like tag but you have to touch them with a ball. After every round we had to add another tager. For the last round I was a tager with Pauline and Aniseko, and for this round we had to count how much people we tagged I got 8 aniseko got 8 and pauline got 9 so she won.

The next game we played didn't have a name but we had to get into group. there were four groups every group had to be like flash we had to run to the cone opposite us then run back to line sit doen and put your hands up.

After we did that a few times group 3 had 2 points and group one had 1 point.
Then we played it but there was a defender I he/she touches you you have to put the ball down and clap 3 times but if you get touched after you run to the other cone it doesn't count.

After we played all the game we got our certificates and went back to class.

Maraia - Te Arapū Māori, the Māori alphabet

Te Arapū Māori, the Māori alphabet

Today in TWP4 we did a extra for experts activity.
We learnt about the Māori alphabet (arapū) is made up of eight consonants, five vowels and two digraphs. Digraphs are two letters that combine to form one sound.
Oropūare and Orokati means Vowels and Consonants.
Something I found out is that when a letter has a hat or a macron you have to drag it.

Maraia - Oropūare and Orokati, Vowels and Consonants

Oropūare and Orokati, Vowels and Consonants

Today for Maori we refreshed our memories about the Maori alphabet by learning all of the letters again and by a song.

The Maori Alphabet ( Arapu ) is made up of eight consonants, five vowels and two digraphs. Digraphs are two letters that combine to form one sound.

I really liked doing this activity plus it was really easy to do because we already knew part of it. we had to know the difference between long vowels and short.

Hope you enjoyed - Ko te tumanako i pai koe

Maraia - How Maui Slowed The Sun

 How Maui Slowed The Sun

Today on the 14th of April, we were supposed to play Ki O Rahi but, when we had gotten there it started to rain very hard so then they people who hosted it said they will moved the tournament to next term, so then we went back to class and we watched a video about How Maui Slowed The Sun.

After we watched the video we had to  weave a piece of paper then our teacher would give us a section of the video and then we had to draw that onto our piece of paper, after we finished our drawing we had to go over it with a black vivid. Then on a strip of paper we had to write our part out, my part was "Long ago,Te Ra the Sun began to move quickly across the sky".

Maui slowed the sun by plating a long piece of flax into a rope with his brother's then they we to his pit where he rose from and then threw the ropes on him and made him go across the sky slower.

Maui want to so down the sun so they can finish things in one days

Maui's friends laughed at him when he wanted to slow down the sun so he can finish things in one day.

Maui wanted to approach the sun at night so that the sun wouldn't see them.

I think that this story is a myth.

I think it was fair that Maui was forcing the sun to slow down .

Something was easy was colouring all the words and putting the picture there.
Something that was hard was thinking of words to put on.

Charging my Chromebook

Today on the 8th of April I did the 9th Cyber smart challenge called Charging my Chromebook  and I had to open a jam board and make a copy but it didn't let me make a copy so I had to screen shot it then answer it on a google drawing then after I finished that I had to take a photo of my Chromebook charging but my charger was at the back of my Chromebook so I took a photo of my friend Melenaite's Chromebook charging then I used her photo.

Something that was nice and easy was taking a photo of my friends Chromebook charging
Something that was that was hard and took a long time was doing the matching activity because I had one of the old Chromebooks and the photo was a new Chromebook.
