Maraia - What Plants and What Leaves?

 What Plants?

Learn - I can identify trees by looking at the bark
Learn - I can identify native New Zealand trees by their leaves

Today in TWP we learnt more about plants and how to identify plants and trees, by their leaves and barks. Our teachers gave us a paper of what the leaves of some New Zealand native trees look like, we had find the name of the trees online. Then after we finished that we were given another piece of paper that has picture of what the bark on the tree looks like then we had to find the name of the tree. We had finished it all but there was one tree left but it was blurred so we couldn't find the name of what is looked like so we asked the teachers and they just told us the answer because it was blurred for them to and then they told us it was a fern tree.

Maraia - Te Arapū Māori, the Māori alphabet

Te Arapū Māori, the Māori alphabet

Today in TWP4 we did a extra for experts activity.
We learnt about the Māori alphabet (arapū) is made up of eight consonants, five vowels and two digraphs. Digraphs are two letters that combine to form one sound.
Oropūare and Orokati means Vowels and Consonants.
Something I found out is that when a letter has a hat or a macron you have to drag it.

Maraia - Oropūare and Orokati, Vowels and Consonants

Oropūare and Orokati, Vowels and Consonants

Today for Maori we refreshed our memories about the Maori alphabet by learning all of the letters again and by a song.

The Maori Alphabet ( Arapu ) is made up of eight consonants, five vowels and two digraphs. Digraphs are two letters that combine to form one sound.

I really liked doing this activity plus it was really easy to do because we already knew part of it. we had to know the difference between long vowels and short.

Hope you enjoyed - Ko te tumanako i pai koe

Maraia - How Maui Slowed The Sun

 How Maui Slowed The Sun

Today on the 14th of April, we were supposed to play Ki O Rahi but, when we had gotten there it started to rain very hard so then they people who hosted it said they will moved the tournament to next term, so then we went back to class and we watched a video about How Maui Slowed The Sun.

After we watched the video we had to  weave a piece of paper then our teacher would give us a section of the video and then we had to draw that onto our piece of paper, after we finished our drawing we had to go over it with a black vivid. Then on a strip of paper we had to write our part out, my part was "Long ago,Te Ra the Sun began to move quickly across the sky".

Maui slowed the sun by plating a long piece of flax into a rope with his brother's then they we to his pit where he rose from and then threw the ropes on him and made him go across the sky slower.

Maui want to so down the sun so they can finish things in one days

Maui's friends laughed at him when he wanted to slow down the sun so he can finish things in one day.

Maui wanted to approach the sun at night so that the sun wouldn't see them.

I think that this story is a myth.

I think it was fair that Maui was forcing the sun to slow down .

Maraia - Sauropod DLO

 Maraia - Sauropod DLO

Today in science I did a DLO about Sauropod's.
Sauropods are dinosaur's who are herbivores. A herbivore is an animal that gets its energy from eating plants, and only plants. Sauropods have long necks small heads and it is very big. I could not think of some words so I looked at Sione's Blog.

Something was easy was colouring all the words and putting the picture there.
Something that was hard was thinking of words to put on.

Pablo Picasso Art - Cubism Final Drawing

Last month we began our our cubism portraits based on Pablo Picasso's cubism art. In cubism you can play around with lots of different shapes and sizes.  The facial like your eye's mouth, face and nose and they can be in different shapes sizes and in place's.
We did two practice drawing before completing our final product. (You can read my blog about my first drawing - LINK).
Something I found easy was outlining my drawing in black and something difficult was drawing my photo because I had never done this type of art so I didn't know what to do.
This is Pablo Picasso's drawing of the Weeping Woman using cubism.
